Santa Barbara City Administrator Kelly McAdoo and members of her team take a deep and detailed dive into the plan for the downtown mall, defending its finances, design and plans for more housing.
The commentary here convinced me that this plan must be approved by the council. Why am I so convinced? Because the city HAS to make a move to bring back the life of the city! The developer you had on a week or so ago made so much sense. No progress, no decisions stagnate and developers will not buy in to uncertainty. Come on, council, do it!
Astute comment, Bonnie. For council, I think the argument boils down to: a) this is a far from ideal deal with lots of dislike vs b) let's just do something to get off the dime. Ms. McAdoo was hired in large part because of her "gets stuff done" record and reputation and credit to her for getting council to a decision point in a relatively short time. Now it's on them to pick one of two less-than-perfect choices.

She knows her stuff! From another POV, proud of those women representing! So prepared and competent!
There is no plan B! They have to move on this!
