The Grand Jury report was a signal event. For the first time, it laid out not only the corruption that shaped the writing of the ordinance but also the many specific legal and economic flaws in the measure. Most important it made clear the big picture of what had happened: Santa Barbara voters may have approved Prop 64 to legalize cannabis, but NO ONE voted to make the county the California capital of cultivation, and the supervisors' effort to implant an entirely new industry without foresight or much public comment, resulted in considerable environmental, political and economic damag The report's sharp and substantive focus, coupled with Melinda Burns's sustained reporting on the issue, at least got the chief architect of the ordinance driven from office, replaced by someone sympathetic to the citizens whose lives were harmed by it. Thanks for your work.

For me personally, I got my medical marijuana card so I didn’t have to pay sale tax anymore. I save $20-25 per month roughly $240 a year.

Jerry , you and I often do not agree, but this is that one time where we do. The ordnance is a joke. It should have been written to tax per square foot or acres under cultivation . Less oversight needed and revenue can be adjusted annually. While on the SBCCGJ we investigated this flop. At that time,2021, SBC was in the hole by approximately $800,000. With the lower revenue that number is much higher now. How long before we see Das in a Mgmt position at one of the large growers? Cheers
