Can a resident of Virginia sue the Virginia Supreme Court for its recent decision to disenfranchise the majority of Virginians who voted for Redistricting? Using a contorted definition of election to challenge the timing of the referendum seems like something we should fight.

not sure but from what I've read, pro-democracy coalition in Va is now looking squarely ahead to mid-terms, not back at inequity of what their high court did, eg https://roberthubbell.substack.com/p/dont-believe-the-doomsayers-keep?utm_campaign=email-half-post&r=32zkmk&utm_source=substack&utm_medium=email

Wrong: “Democrats must gerrymander to save democracy.” Gerrymandering is manipulative. Rather, to save our representative Republic, — we’re not a democracy — Democrats must become better informed regarding how corrupt and wasteful government is, start thinking and acting independently rather than continue to seek personal security and belonging as part of a group controlled by self-serving career politicians and bureaucrats. Independent thinking requires research, work and self-confidence.

And in the near term, your notion of “independent thinking” results in defeat and Republican dominance. No, thanks.

In the recent Calais ruling by SCOTUS. The simple rule is Race shall not be a factor in drawing district lines.

That leaves the requirement of compactness, contiguous and not shaped like a lobster.

This ruling is part of the larger effort and success in removing race from government processes. One would think Mr. Elias would be pleased with this but of course it means the Democrats are going to lose many seats in the house. It is estimated over 100 democrat house seats are based on racial Jerry mandarin, and so of course the Democrats are upset, but it’s only fair..
