Bitterly and long opposed by neighbors, an embattled Carpinteria Valley growing operation and a planned dispensary on Santa Claus Lane both now belong to the dustbin of history.
Interesting that the article states with respect to a dispensary on Santa Claus, “was incompatible with two nearby surf camps serving children.” Yet, a giant grow surrounding our high school, that employed illegal violent criminals, child trafficked labor, and required exemptions to state law for drugs within a school zone, isn’t? Could it be because every politician from Newsom to Salud Carbajal, the Democrat Party of SB, and the school all received contributions?
Good article, would be great if it addressed why these licenses aren’t under review after what occurred here…
Perhaps if you'd read Melinda's coverage of this issue for the past six years (in Newsmakers, among other venues) you wouldn't have to be playing catch-up.
Well some of this just came to light in July with the executed warrants.
But yes, I’ve missed some articles and podcasts here and there. I spent over 1000 days away from my family in 2020-2024, through COVID and up to last year, leading delivery of the most advanced ballistic missile defense system that’s ever existed, to ensure we are all safe. Actually was awarded Department of the Navy engineer of the year 2023 for the effort.
I do try my best to read and watch everything from Newsmakers and SB Talks.
And we appreciate it! Point is, rookie political candidates have a tendency to rush onto the campaign field and start making major pronouncements and declarations as they discover things for the first time that for others are not exactly breaking news. I've seen it a lot since covering my first race (the 1974 contest for San Francisco School Board for those keeping score at home) and in my dotage call it out when I see it. All best, look forward to having you on the show in 2026.
